About Yoga

The yoga of Radikal Freedom works with:

  • Dynamic and restorative physical practices.  These practices work with synchronisation of breath, flowing movement and focused mind along with life-energy harnessing practices that allow rejuvenation whilst creating a moving and mindful meditation. Asana is a celebration of the inseparability of body as mind.
  • Breathing practices which assist in psycho-emotional integration and freedom.
  • Sitting practices that cultivate witness consciousness and allow us to rest in our naturally perfect existence.
  • Fully celebrating life as precious, profound and sacred.
  • Sound and vibration.  Our always-already existent unicity with the vibrational nature of the cosmos is thus more easily remembered.
  • Ritual and the yogic dance of Freedom.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom and its influences

Radikal Freedom is simply the art and science of realisation and awakening.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom teaches the innate intelligence of the body-mind and amplifies this into the conscious force of evolutionary yoga.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom encourages the innate love and compassion of the infinite heart and cultivates as Engaged Yoga.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom is the realization of one’s true nature. This systemic and integral  awakening allow one to be of service, whilst celebrating life in its sublime beauty.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom teaches individualized practice based on the needs and strengths of the individual.

Yoga means both method of practice and unicity. Yoga is the recognition of relationship and inseparability between apparently separate aspects of existence.

Yoga is the methods of practice of awareness. Yoga is also the result of the methods of practice. Yoga is the deep experiential knowing of one’s core truth and all of existence as this non-dual.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom works with the best elements of Yogic practice and philosophy in conjunction with western physiology, psychology, neuro-science, physics, evolutionary biology and consciousness research.

Paramahamsa Satyananda

Parmahamsa Satyananda of Rikhia in his sublime presence has been and continues to be a profound influence on the yoga of Radikal Freedom. Gurujis resonance and grace was the key to freedom for Christopher and his work.

Swami Pragyamurtiji

As one of the most influential, powerful and loving of influences on Christopher’s development and the Yoga of Radikal Freedom. Swami Pragyamurti holds a place of great honour, devotion and respect.

Krishnamacharya, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, BNS Iyengar and BKS Iyengar

The Nath lineage through Krishnamacharya offers immense inspiration to the yoga of Radikal Freedom. It is with gratitude, devotion and deep appreciation that we recognise their awesome gifts of service, which we have had the grace to receive. Krishnamacharyas influence through methods of practice and the teaching blessings of Guruji allow many to benefit and find freedom.

Ramana Maharshi and Papaji

Inspired by Shankaracharya, rooted in the diverse traditions of Jnana, heartfelt thanks are offered to all those who have forged the path of deep inquiry. The yoga of Radikal Freedom continues this tradition of inquiry offering holarchical perspectives on the perennial question of who and what we are.

Osho

Osho’s process meditations and contemporary questioning of the nature of being human have been a rich mine of influence for looking afresh at what freedom means. The neo-tantra of Osho’s disciples has been a source of inspiration.

Ken Wilber

The wisdom offerings of Ken Wilber and the Integral Institute are deeply honoured as major influences on the existence and presentation of the yoga of Radikal Freedom.

Ngakpa Chang Rinpoche

As one of the clearest teachers around in communicating the essence of Dzogchen and Vajrayana, Rinpoche and his consort Khandro Dechen are honoured as hero and heroine of the path of indestructible truth and a profound influence on the work of the yoga of Radikal Freedom. Rinpoche and Khandro Dechen have kindly  accepted Christopher as an apprentice on the path. May they live long and may their teachings flourish.

Communion

From the oldest of times to contemporary urban culture we have sought and found means to transcend our sense of separateness and touch the deepest essence of communion with all that is. The practices of communion celebrated all around the globe are also the roots of of Radikal Freedom, which honors these roots, and the path of spirit. Christopher’s initial upbringing was in a devotional Christian community where that great teachers words lived through his devotees hearts.

Further inspirations include the direct teachings of Tsoknyi Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama, Richard Freeman, Shiva Rea and Danny Paradise.

Ursula K Le Guin, Lewis Carroll, Alex Grey, Clare Graves, Nelson Mandela, Caroline Myss, Padmasambhava and Yeshe Tsogyel, Bob Marley and a host of other beings each of whom have a place in the hall of beauty, love, power and freedom continue to influence Radikal Freedom wherever, however and under whatever name it is taught.

Part of the problem or the solution?

Unfortunately, as with many wonderful systems and traditions, people with lower levels of personal development can create an ego position about ‘their’ practice and beliefs and fall into the fundamentalist view of only one right way.

The various internal dynamics of some yoga organizations do not always show much evolved love. Sometimes the dynamics seem to be more about power, authority, control and politics. Those in authority do sometimes seem to love authority, is it because it feels safe?

Prayers of kindness and devotion are offered for all those beings who find themselves caught in the world of rules and rigidly defined order, may they find release and great freedom, may they find ease in the order of chaos.

What is your choice? Part of the problem or part of the solution?

The yoga of Radikal Freedom is the evolutionary force of yoga, it is wisdom and love in action, it is creative engaged yoga. Yoga is all of us, it is the creative conscious awakening of humanity, the synergy of our times in which the inner divinity, the awakened buddha energy of each of us counts.

The yoga of Radikal Freedom is an invitation to find your place in the circle, the circle of synergy which is co-creating radikal freedom for all beings everywhere. Bring your talents, your gifts, your offerings and your love and share and drink deeply.
