Come and try this, Christopher will challenge your beliefs, your motivation, your practice and your ego! Don’t let that put you off, this is awesome work.
He walks the walk and talks the talk! Chris is a radikal, authentic warrior of the heart.
This is a whole and real approach to Yoga. Prepare to be pushed outside of your comfort zone. Here is a teacher who has taken Eastern practice and philosophy and is now making it accessible to the West- from a questioning westerner’s perspective, come and work with him!
I wanted more hours in the day, this work is profound.
I hit my own edge in asana, stamina and personal limitations, it is good to break through, re-construct and re address. He is thought provoking and yet brings so much joy, serenity and calm. I resonate with his sense of the world.
If you wish to truly have an ‘experience’ of Yoga: If you wish to deepen and have a rich growth-ful practice: If you wish for greater peace, joy, actualising of your potential: If you wish to experience evolution in action: Then come to Christopher.
My practice has deepened , become less of a routine and more of a conscious moving, awakening prayer and meditation.
Found I could go beyond the struggle, most helpful.
Whoaw, that was amazing.
The other day, when you said Chris was also 'Spiritual' I was slightly worried, because I have a really hard time with the westernized yogis with egos as big as their muscles talking about 'spiritual journeys' when all they are trying to do is... To become more efficient at work. See what I mean?
What is incredible about Chris is the 'unity'. He does not talk like some Westerner trying to appear Indian or Asian, he has made the fusion, he has understood that wisdom is neither Western nor Asian, it just IS.
The links he established between the mind and the body are so clear and simple, he does not over do it, I guess he does not need to because it is so obvious to him, he lives with it.
I think it was Socrates who said "what is well conceived can be expressed clearly". Ever so true in Chris's case.
What I found really funny is to see that, with yoga, like with everything else in fact, the more advanced you are, the more you become aware of what you don't know.
I did not really understand who arranged for Chris's visit here, but if it was you guys, well thank you very very much.
"The first session began in the early evening soon after we arrived and it soon became apparent that this weekend we would be challenged both physically and mentally by a true master of his craft.
Although Christopher's roots are in Ashtanga this was not an Ashtanga weekend. Christopher encouraged us to 'cultivate comfort in being uncomfortable' explaining that we need this to grow and we were certainly working to our edge throughout the weekend as we were led through a series of quite powerful asana sessions, with some jewels of really insightful teaching points being given by Chris. In addition to the fabulous asana work, we spent time chanting, working with bandhas and practising Kriyas with healthy measures of pranayama and meditation thrown in.
Christopher's inspired and dynamic teaching style presented us all with enough challenge and yet left us hungry for more. I can hardly wait to work with Chris again when he comes to Darlington in July and then again next May when he returns to host the Darlington Yoga Residential Weekend again."
Out of the many, many yoga teachers I've had, Christopher Gladwell is one of the best. He integrates Neuro Linguistic Programming, Tantrism, Psychology, and even Zoology into what other people call Ashtanga Vinyasa, but with him, his classes always turns out to be so much more. He is so well received, perhaps because his enthusiasm and depth of knowledge is not only unique, it's a kind of genius. Christopher represents to me the way I hope to be teaching my students, in another ten years.
Astonishing; such clear and vibrant teaching. Even when teaching the complexities of Asana practice, the deeper truths of existence permeate Christopher's teaching. He is, without doubt one of the most grounded and clear 'spiritual' teachers I have ever come across.
