Mastery in Adjustment

Learn to adjust your students in the best possible way.

Human beings learn yoga practice through creating internal sensory maps and then recreating that experience. Internal sensory maps are difficult to make from verbal instruction alone. Internal sensory maps are hard to make from visual demonstrations. One of the most important teaching tools as a yoga teacher you have is your hands.

Kind, sensitive and intelligent adjustment that respects physical differences, is understanding of individual development and the steps of development, secures safe and strong practice.

The teacher who use their hands with intelligence heals students. All teaching is an engagement in the cultivation of compassion and wisdom.

You will learn:

  • To use your hands with maximum intelligence and awareness, and thus guide your students into a deeper yet safer and more satisfying practice.
  • To use your hands in ways that guarantee your students find what they need to experience.
  • To help students understand their own bodies and practice.
  • The language of touch and how to use your verbal language to support your ‘hands on’ teaching.
  • The kinesiology of asana, how bodies move and work in practice. This teaching is rooted in western anatomy and physiotherapy whilst also utilizing and honoring eastern Yogic models of body-mind function.
  • The meridians of flow through the body and how to use these in your teaching.
  • About different body types, how to read different anatomies, what they need and what is possible for them.
  • To intelligently guide students safely open into advanced practices.
  • The correct preparations (kramas) for advanced practices.
